Sketching and Scanners

Tue Aug 5, 2008, 6:39 PM
So I ordered a new scanner! I just couldn't stand the photo taking anymore, the scans always came out better back when the scanner worked. Anyway it should arrive tomorrow if UPS stays on schedule. After that I can scan some of the work I have been doing! :)

Speaking of, I have decided that I wanted to attempt a graphic novel format. I have this fantasy novel hanging around in my head and in various piles of notes which I think would be more fun to draw then completely write. Anyway it's perhaps a poor approach to a graphic novel... actually it might be a good approach, no idea never done it before! But that's part of the fun eh?

I have found that as I work out what my primary characters look like I have greatly expanded both their depth as well as story lines, a picture still speaks a thousand words. I'll work on getting some of these line sketches posted over the weekend, they really are more like nice sketches then completed works but, maybe after a little rework I can give them a more finished look. I'll see where they go, I have have 5.5 complete and 2.5 to go, then I'll revisit them for some finishing.

What I'm most intrigued by with this project is the story telling and realization of this story in images. Hopefully it will turn out interesting eh?

Your welcome, such great work! I dabble in watercolors and can really appreciate how hard it can be! Do you use watercolor pencils or conventional watercolors? Just curious about what others use... especially great work like yours! :)
